There was a strange asian news show playing at a noodle shop I ate in earlier today. Half the screen was taken up by subtitles in fifteen different languages, and the anchors had the kind of engineered persona you'd expect to see in a religious recrutment video or a piece of wartime propaganda. I assumed it was created by some enviromentalist organization since the news stories seemed to revolve around animal rights (it was a vegan place and the owners where chinese so it would make sense that they would want to play that).
They where talking about disaster relief after an earthquake in japan when they said "The victims of the disaster where grateful to the supreme master for sending her blessing". I then noticed that the channel was called Supreme Master TV. Later on they had a montage of people from different countries singing about how the supreme master cured all their problems. All those subtitles? They where the languages of every country that has followers of the supreme master. I did some research on the supreme master later. She is a vietnamese spiritual teacher named Ching Hai. Turns out she founded the restaurant chain. I looked at the logo for the restaurant, it contains the supreme masters symbol. They where good noodles, would go there again.

I presume that you were eating in a place called "Loving Hut"? It's a vegan noodle shop chain run by Chinghai Sydney, (the supreme leader that you mentioned).
Found a list of their US restaurant locations.

I've got some family in Houston TX, so maybe I'll stop in and try it out next time I'm there.
