I am all for owning a weapon for self defense. I've seen what can happen we one doesn't own a weapon and the results are… gruesome to say the least. Plus, it allows someone who is far weaker to more easily defend themself and their loved ones. However, I don't know if I would personally encourage everyone to own a firearm; some people are legitimately too stupid to be in charge of anything, including their own safety.

I am pro people owning firearms for offensive purposes. When people wish you harm you can't just wait around for them to attack you you have to get them first.

But other than that a simple id check should be the only requirements for a average gun (average gun= anything the cops use, including swat, no bazookas or anything like that). Gun stores should always have a list of the people that are prohibited to have guns so that the employee can make a deeper check if the pictures match.

I think there should be a(elective) course in high school where you can learn firearm safety and doctrine and during those classes you can also weed out the schizos.
Also military service at the age of 18 too weed them out even more.

This is false, it doesn't actually happen. The reason organized victimization can occur is because nobody is willing to just get rid of all the bad guys. Governments and gangs set themselves up so that there's enough separation between those at the top of the hierarchy and those actually doing the victimization.It becomes a decentralized system of violence where the loss of no individual will have any effect.It can only be stopped by forcefully enacting social order. You have to tear down the tyrannical order and put a better one it in's place; or live forever under tyranny of those who are willing to use preemptive violence.

You misunderstand me, I did not claim that weapons, or violence in general, should never be used for self-defense. I meant that violence, or in this context weapons, should always be used only to achieve a specific goal, and only to the extent that achieving that goal requires. If one now undertakes excessive preventive strikes against everything and everyone, such an undertaking will not end well.

I dont understand what anyone would need a gun for except for fighting with someone armed with a gun.

If the aggressor is physically stronger. Also, edged weapons can be exceptionally deadly. It may seem like overkill to shoot a guy with a knife, but real combat is all about superiority, not playing on an even battlefield. Trying to defend yourself with only the same type of weapons an attacker brings will get you killed. I guess the point I'm trying to make is: if someone is out for your life, and it's up to you to defend your life, why settle for less than the best option?

Yes that is the whole point I'm making. Everyone needs guns, cause there are guns. If you hadnt have guns, there would always be the strategic dimension to a fight. Doesnt matter if you have a knife, a sword or a spear. Youd always want the best options. And since there are guns, guns arent the best option, but the only serious one. Because whatcha gonna do to someone with a gun? Its not like people who want you harm dont take guns. So in the end its only about what? coincidence? Who shoots first?
So its not the stronger or more intelligent survive, but those who seek you out to shoot you first. Psychopaths, Crackniggas, Narcissists, Schitzos

I wouldn't say that, it really depends on the situation, but I do think it brings up a point this thread has glossed over. Training is just as important as the gun itself. There is little to no point in getting a firearm if you cannot operate it sufficiently. Back to the superiority point, if you can't be superior via equipment or numbers, be superior via skill.
