As time goes on, I no longer lust for places that only host fights and violence. Which sadly seems to be the trend with imageboards.
It's hard to find a place where you can talk about something you're into without having a lot of loudmouths around creating white noise or just being plain rude. Does anyone else know this feel?

I know this feel very well and can completely relate.
Porn is also being posted all the time. Sometimes the posting quality drops so hard that you just don't want to visit the board anymore. Maybe that's why altchans are slow but more kind and qualitatively better because some people are tired of this shit and come here from time to time. It really is a shame what happend to the imageboards.

Even those seem to be filled with people with the worst intentions from time to time. I just want to talk about games and see people optimistically talking about games

Indeed, all the /pol/ and porn threads influences the mood too much. As someone who has just started pretty recently to lurk, I can really see how it changed my thinking within one year.
Also it's really frustrating if your attitude is /cyber/ and these people are on the same level in spyware-wokeness than normies. So many win10 and gchrome users. Live and let live, but I want to talk to likeminded people.

That one is the worst, they act like they discovered the redpill yesterday and that their internet tuff guy attitude will translate to IRL when the world has some gay shit happening that will not let them use the computer, yet they post in the places with the most shut-in and socially ostracized people on the internet who masturbate to the sickest fetishes to exist. It's contradictory in itself.
Politics in the internet is a mistake

4chan was a mistake. Moot's to blame.

Nah, massive access to the internet was a mistake, vierkanal can still put out some really cool stuff (See Corona-Chan)

The biggest mistake is the ownership of the internet by big companies.

 No.2484

>>2483
That's actually true, 4chan's owner only wants to make a profit from it and that reflexes back to not caring about the userbase

 No.2485

But then the issue remains, why so many alt boards are filled with absolutely deranged people?
You know what, that reflects back to what you said, big companies purchase all internet assets, censorship clams down and the worst of the worst end up in imageboards just for the fact that most internet websites won't handle their shit.
Perhaps I became too much of a normalfag and I can't sympathize with the average imageboard lurker nowadays.

Seeming like a normalfaggy boomer is the product of being around retarded zoomers. And that is just what's happening. Userbases of imageboards are getting filled with underaged edgy teens because they want to have more original funny pictures than their friends. They are all permanently connected to their smartphones and a lot of digital goods replace social mechanisms or become equivalent at least. So having "good memes" and reposting something that was posted as OC a few minutes before gives them the hot stuff in front of their digital audience. 4chan by now is just edgy twitter. That's why slow altboards are fine. Without high ppd it's not worth your time, if you're just addicted to funny pictures.

But it's not only 4chan, a lot of boards that spawned after 8chan died are also filled with people who I'd rather not bother with. People who just want to fight and be bitter for the pettiest shit. The internet places I can only go to are just getting smaller and smaller.

 No.2490

I namefag solely so I can be a beacon of light, trust, and kindness on a terminally dark web.

Yes, that is absolutely faggy, but sometimes I wish I had come across someone like me.

Welcome, friend.

Mhm I see, well there are probably also people who are full of hatred but are so pissed by other flooding content on 4 that they have their own boards without whatever they don't want to see. 4chan has a lot to offer which you can dislike.
I've gotta say it's really comfy here and I'm not sure if this is just my impression, but I feel like some people simoultaneously started to lurking more active producing some small chainreaction in activity on here. I mean I feel like when I started posting here more actively, all the recent posts were at least weeks old and now there are more or less fluid conversations with only hours in between.
Maybe I'm just imagining it, but if this keeps going, we are the start of creating another one of these rare places in the internet, that actually feel alive. Like living in the good old days of tomorrow, you know?

>>2490
I always liked namefags because of that very reason, especially if you get into a new board and you see avatars repeating it really feels like becoming a part of the boards culture. Plus most of the namefags are just shitposting random bs. It get's uncomfortable though if they start to claim things and whoring around for attention.

People always bang on about lurking more but they never take into account that there is nothing to lurk if nobody posts around. Gotta start from somewhere.

4chan wasn't the first English imageboard. Moot's just got popular first and was run incompetently. He let in normal people who just wanted to post "offensive things" and hate anime and everything else the board was supposedly created to celebrate instead of cracking down on it, and now we have the insufferable, politics obsessed, larger imageboard culture to thank for it.
>>2491
It's ironic that people who left 4chan for not having enough free speech ended up being the most fanatical, dogmatic and aggressive towards anything that slightly goes against their sensibilities.

Quarantine might be forcing people to communicate in increasingly obscure ways out of boredom. At least that's my story.

4chan is dead! Long live 4chan!
8chan is dead! Long live 8chan!
Arisuchan is dead! Long live arisuchan!

All I have left is lainchan and this place.

I think that nearly counts as a combo.

I mean basically that is my story as well. You might be onto something there.
